Australia Zoo
The next day of our holidays was spent resting. Well us grown ups wanted to but not an energetic 4 year old. We took him to play on the climbing equipment at the holiday park and for swims in the pool and played lots of games. It was a lovely day weather wise but that was soon to change. The following day was Tuesday and we ventured up the coast to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. Tyler was hoping to see Bindi and I was looking out for the very cute Croc men. No such luck for either of us. This day was the 1 year anniversary of Steve Irwin's death so there was a solemn feeling about the place, especially seeing flowers on Steve's truck. There were lots of camera crews and one of them interviewed Tyler and I. We were hoping to be on the news that night but we didn't see ourselves.
Dad's GPS system, who we lovingly named Lucy, informed us that it was only about 1 1/2 hours from our holiday place to the zoo. We thought that was not too bad so off we went. Well Lucy didn't know about the bad car accident that took place on the M1 earlier that day so it took us over 2 hours to get there. And on the way back was a lot worse. There were several accidents of which we SAW none but felt the congestion of them all and it took us over 3 hours to get back. Nevertheless it was well worth the trip, even in the slight rain.
There was lots to see and the zoo was a lot larger than I expected.
Once again, we had a great day and all came home very tired.
