More of the Outback Spectacular.

These photos were also on Dad's camera. They were taken at the Australian Outback Spectacular. It was a fantastic night. We ALL enjoyed it very much.
All squashed in.
I thought these photos were quite funny. They show me in the back of a very small helicopter ride that I went on with Tyler at Seaworld.
More Holiday photos
Today I received a disc of photos that came from Dad's camera of our recent trip to Queensland. It was really great to see Tyler and myself in them together, having fun! I had nearly forgotten some of the rides that I went on with my little boy. Some of them were so squashy, it was quite amusing watching me try to get in and out of very small helicopters and aeroplanes. All I could do was laugh so hard as I tried to put my legs in this way and my body in another way. I am so glad a video camera wasn't rolling as I did these contortion tricks.
My 37th Birthday
Saturday 22nd September 2007 - my 37th birthday.
I love birthdays!! Whether they are mine or someone elses, I think everyone should celebrate birthday's. It's the one day of the year when its yours, and only yours (unless you know someone who celebrates their birthday the same day as you). Its special and I think you should feel special on your birthday. My day started with a very excited little boy wishing me a very happy birthday and giving me a great big hug, and running off to get the card that he had made me. What more could a mum ask for. Then I received phone calls on my home phone and my mobile, sms messages and emails. I even had a couple of phone calls where the caller sang Happy Birthday to me. That was so sweet.
Mum and Dad came up at lunch time bringing with them a bag full of my favourite Darrell Lea chocolates, a voucher to get my hair done and a scrap booking disc for the computer. I am yet to load it up but I can't wait to check it out. Then we all went to the new Hogs Breath Cafe near our place. That was great. Tyler has been hanging out to go there but unfortunately he wasn't feeling too well and didn't have too much to eat. When dad and Tyler had finished their lunch we sent them up to McDonald's to get Tyler an ice-cream while Mum had a coffee and i had my favourite cocktail as a treat - a SPLICE. Yummo.
We were eager to get Tyler home so we picked up my birthday cake and took it home where we did the whole candle thing. My cake was beautiful - pink icing with "Happy Birthday Mummy" piped on it. I was too full from my yummy lunch to have any. Then Tyler wanted to put our photos and videos on the TV screen for nan and pop.
Just before nan and pop went home we noticed that Tyler seemed to be having trouble swallowing and he didn't look to well. I decided to ring the after hours GP access and was able to get him an appointment at the JHH. On the drive down there he slept all the way so when we got there he was feeling very chatty, as kids do. He did present with sore throat but the doctor just gave him a prescription for eye drops for conjunctivitis. His asthma is also playing up. So it wasn't the way I wanted to spend the second half of my birthday, but thats ok and it could have been worse. Tyler went to bed quite early which was good for him but my night was very quite.
To my special friends who contacted me to wish me a happy birthday, I thank you for putting an extra smile on my face. God bless.

Pre-birthday

Only 1 more sleep to my birthday. But who is counting? Me, of course !!
A lovely friend of mine, Tracy, and her 3 year old son, Cooper, invited Tyler and myself down to their place for morning tea. When we got there we were in for a lovely surprise. They had put on a party for me for my birthday tomorrow!!! How lucky am I. There were balloons, party hats, a great scapbooking present, yummy food of fresh fruit salad, lollies, franfurts, cheese, crakers and dip,and a chocolate/caramel mud cake with candles. It was so cool. We even played pin the tale on the donkey with the kids. Then we got out the craft box and made little sail boats before taking the kids out the back yard for a play.
It was such a thoughtful treat and I am so thankful to have such a special friend. Thank-you Tracy.

The Aquaduck
On one of our last days in Queensland it was a rainy ole day and we didn't have much to do (apart from packing up) so we decided to take Tyler for a ride on the Aquaduck. He enjoyed it, especially when he got to have a drive when we were in the water. All the kids get to have a drive and receive a certificate for doing it. That was pretty cool. Tyler enjoyed chatting with the driver and the hostess and can still remember their names, Frank and Amy.
Before we entered the water Amy said "we are about to find out if this is a bus, a boat, or a submarine.....". Oops. that made Tyler very nervous as we went head first into the water. Splash.
After the ride we waited outside for awhile as Tyler wanted to wave good-bye to the Aquaduck. While we were just hanging around Warrick Capper started a conversation with me. (he must have been bored). He was very chatty and I found the questions he asked me were a bit strange, as so was he.
After the ride we had some lunch and a look around. I walked past a shop that had spiritual readings, healings etc. Actually I walked past it 3 times as I felt very drawn to it. I didn't say anything to mum and Tyler, I just walked in and had a reading done. I won't go into detail here but let me say it was very interesting.
The trip up to Queensland
I know this is a bit out of order but I just want to show as many photos as possible. We had a good trip up. Tyler handled it better than I thought. We left Thursday morning and drove to The Big Banana. Tyler really liked the idea of walking through a banana. We only stopped for a little look around and to have an ice-cream. Then we droved to Woolgoolga and found somewhere to bed down for the night. It was Tyler's first night in a motel and is was facinated. He really liked the idea of sleeping in a bed with his mum on one side of him and his nan and pop on the other side.
Australian Outback Spectacular!
The next day of our holiday, the Wednesday, it was raining and quite cool. It was nice just to lay around a bit and not do too much, except play games, do word puzzles etc. No rest for Tyler so we took it in turns to play. Mum and Dad looked after him while I laid down and read some of my book, then we swapped.
That night we went to the Australian Outback Spectacular.
WOW, wow and double wow!! What an unreal night. We all agreed it was the best part of our holiday. If you head up to the Gold Coast we would highly recommend you go to this wonderful dinner/show.
From the moment we walked through the doors we had a great time. Tyler enjoyed it so much that he lost his voice from cheering and yahoo'ing. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who plans to go, so if that is you, don't read anymore of this posting.
Everyone receives a cowboy hat to keep and it had either a yellow band or a red band around it. We were yellow and called Austral Downs. I can't exactly remember the red teams name. We had our photo taken which we were able to purchase later in the night. The first room was like a great big barn with a bar. There was a guy standing on the back of a ute with his guitar singing, so of course Tyler and I got right into the dancing. Mum said we were on a lot of people's video cameras. Tyler and i had a great time dancing and as more people came in we were joined by others. It was so much fun. We bought a drink in a really cool flashing glass. Then we moved through to the arena. It was fantastic. I loved the seating arrangements, the meal was great and you couldn't fault the service. The first scene started with a realistic storm - you could feel the ground shake and feel the mist from the rain. Tyler got a tad scared with this and I thought I was going to have so spend the whole night out in the barn with him. But luckily after that he settled into it and had a fabulous time! We were expecting a great horse show, but it was FAR more than that. There were cows, dogs, camels, chickens, stunt riders, horse whisperer, rodeos, quad bikes, boat race and even a helicopter. Its hard to describe in words how much fun we had. We were unable to take photos in there but the program we purchased has a lot of details, so if anyone wants to check it out you are more than welcome.

Australia Zoo
The next day of our holidays was spent resting. Well us grown ups wanted to but not an energetic 4 year old. We took him to play on the climbing equipment at the holiday park and for swims in the pool and played lots of games. It was a lovely day weather wise but that was soon to change.
The following day was Tuesday and we ventured up the coast to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. Tyler was hoping to see Bindi and I was looking out for the very cute Croc men. No such luck for either of us. This day was the 1 year anniversary of Steve Irwin's death so there was a solemn feeling about the place, especially seeing flowers on Steve's truck. There were lots of camera crews and one of them interviewed Tyler and I. We were hoping to be on the news that night but we didn't see ourselves.
Dad's GPS system, who we lovingly named Lucy, informed us that it was only about 1 1/2 hours from our holiday place to the zoo. We thought that was not too bad so off we went. Well Lucy didn't know about the bad car accident that took place on the M1 earlier that day so it took us over 2 hours to get there. And on the way back was a lot worse. There were several accidents of which we SAW none but felt the congestion of them all and it took us over 3 hours to get back. Nevertheless it was well worth the trip, even in the slight rain.
There was lots to see and the zoo was a lot larger than I expected. Once again, we had a great day and all came home very tired.

Seaworld
Our second day on holidays saw us at Seaworld. I love Seaworld, especially seeing the wonderful dolphins and their amazing trainers.
Do you know who lives at Seaworld now? No, I am not talking about the sharks or the polar bear. ELMO. Yes Elmo was at Seaworld. Tyler thought that was very exciting and we managed to get a cuddle and a photo.
It was a really hot day when we were there which lead us to buy hats - which lead to more shopping. There were a few rides that Tyler was interested in and of course he wanted his mum to go on them with him. More squeezing in for me.
There was also a bit of a water playground that Tyler had an absolute ball playing in. He got so drenched and i didn't have more clothes for him so he ended up leaving Seaworld in a wet t-shirt and undies.

Dreamworld
We had the best holiday in Queensland. A big thanks to Mum and Dad for taking us!
We stayed at a great Holiday Village. There were lots of birds, a couple of pools, play areas and activities for the kids.
On the first day, Saturday, we headed off the Dreamworld. Tyler loved meeting his wiggley friends, Dorothy, Henry and Wags. The Big Red car ride was fun and Tyler talked Nan and Pop into both getting in it with him. Wiggles world was really good for the kids. The shop was great, but Captain Featherswords ship was a bit disappointing. I squeezed into Dorothy's teacup ride with Tyler, and I do mean squeeze. Tyler also met Dora the Explorer and Boots. He thought that was pretty cool.
Tyler and Poppy fed some baby goats and lambs in the farmyard. We had a train ride and I talked Tyler into going on the rapids ride with me and Poppy. Oops. I didnt' realise it went through a very dark tunnel. He got quite scared and I dont think i will be able to get tyler on any rides that he can't see fully again.
The highlight of this day, besides watching Tyler's excitment, was walking around inside the Big Brother House. I took video footage inside and we got our photo taken sitting on the diary room chair. That was pretty cool.
Check out my first little digital scrapbook with our dreamworld photos. The front photo was taken at The Australian Outback Spectacular, but more about that later.

Welcome
Hello and welcome to my first ever blog.
Thanks for taking the time to have a browse and I hope you come back regularly as I will no doubt be adding to it often.
After viewing a blog that my dear friend Robyn has had for about 2 years, I decided to have some fun with this too. Thank you to Robyn for helping me get set up.
I often send large, detailed group emails to my on-line friends letting them know what has been happening in my life, my holidays etc. So now instead of doing that I will be able to blog it.
Enjoy!Labels: Welcome
